Mbira Music of Zimbabwe & Voices of Ancestors Concert

Chartwell Dutiro and Friends give a concert of traditional Zimbabwean music for mbira and voice. Mbira is an ancient traditional instrument of the Zezuru/Shona people of Zimbabwe. The mbira is made of hand-forged iron keys that are mounted on a piece of hardwood. At the bottom of the wood there is a metal plate with shells, bottle tops or any other material that gives a buzzing effect to the sound of the mbira. read more
